Chen Ruyan (active in the 14th century) was a painter and poet in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties. This painting depicts the scenery of the Baizhang Spring in Suzhou. In the 19th year of Zhizheng (1359), the poet Zhou Nan (1301-1383) stayed at Haiyun Nunnery, climbed mountains, watched the springs, and wrote poems.
